Not saying it never happens, I'm sure that it does, but I do think that the unfortunate hetero-myths about sex and sex roles are a big driver here, rather than plain old "people," per se. Of course, there's also the conversation amoung male-female couples that so often comes up when it's made clear that the toys either aren't JUST for the female part of the couple, or not for her at ALL.
