Oh my,does that bring back memories. For even back then, even with lack of sleep and overwork of having small children, then only to have the lack of privacy that tweens and teens bring...firstly, we carefully budgeted for small overnighter-two days trips in the fanciest hotel/motel we could afford. Away from home, away from our routines. The drive (usually about three to four hours) was the beginning of slipping back into what we called our "Original Selves": ie. the girl (ha) and boy we were before the marriage and babies and jobs and school and bills and housework.

No matter how many things we scrimped on and did without so we could do this...shoes, spa trips. books, movies, fancy coffee, and we only hid money from ourselves, it was worth it. I'd mark the dates on the calender far in advance and just keep going.

Secondly, we availed ourselves of the computer to check in with each other, send naughty stories and pictures at odd times of the day and night, especially when he was traveling. Many times, bathtime meant I was getting a phone call from my husband that was truly, phone sex..only we didn't have to pay anyone.

Actually, we had a rather long list, during all those years. Now the boys are away, far away at school and jobs and we are totally enjoying being "child-free". Again. Or at last.*heehee*

And truthfully, that little give away sounds as if it could be a lovely little surprise present for Father's Day, from me to the guy that made me a Mama.*blush*

Take care,
Melanie

It's TIME that we need. Seems like when our desires are synched up, there are wee ones underfoot, or baseball practice to get to. I'm really happy with the family we've created, but I sure do miss lazy Sunday mornings in bed.

It's difficult to find time to yourself, expecially when sharing a home with little ones. Bookie and I steal time when we can.

Winning things inspires writing. I finialy took the time to relax yesterdy ( it was my brithday) I shut out the kids and pets and just had a hot bubble bath with a book. It just dawned on me this week that I need to be doing the me time thing, all it took was 29 years to come to that decision.
I dont know if this inspires you to write but reading your writings even your rants seem to brighten my day.

Hi Jane,
I am having trouble with my writing as well. The desire is there, but not when I get home from work. When I get home I am so tired.
I am glad that you haven't given up journaling all together. I always stop in to see how you are and what you've been up to.
Congratulations on the training for the triathlon. That takes a tremendous amount of discipline.

After I get caught up on my bills I really would like to treat myself to a whole day at a spa. I know it would be great for me but doing things for myself always makes me feel so guilty.
