I was talking about this with my wife tonight, and came up with the theory that ADD is an adult problem that is brought on by not having learned as a child how to become focus. It's normal for children to shift their focus constantly, because there is so much in the world that they want to learn. But as you grow up, you need to start focussing your attention, because you need to specialize yourself and develop into a unique person. I don't think learning how to focus is necessarily instinctive. I think it's a skill that can be taught. But the way society is set up, we assume that kids of no attention span and we thrust upon them myriads of ways of diverting their attention, creating teenagers who are all over the place and who never learn how to focus. Then you're an adult and you find yourself having ADD. Maybe that's why doctors have been trying to give medicine to kids all this time and it wasn't working. It's just not what they need.

Jane, I have absolutely no idea if any of this applies to you.

What were we talking about? :)
