Very good rules.

I think that unlike other animal species humans are in a state of flux between monogamy and non-monogamy. In others words some people are very monogamous minded, some are very non-monogamous and a lot of people are very inbetween.
I think it's what causes a lot of our relationship problems.

I like all four of your rules, but think violating #1 (maybe mixed somewhat with #2) is one of the biggest mistakes couples that fail make. Sex with your partner getting "boring" or not sufficient? Don't discuss your concerns; invite others and expect them to solve your problems! Relationship having problems? Open it to others; that should fix everything! :-P The same thinking is tragically used in "Let's have a baby to make things better for us."

I believe non-monogamy is a state of mind, not necessarily a day to day activity. There are days when it seems like a good idea, but for whatever reason, it just isn't going to happen. There are others that when it does happen, it is like heaven on earth. One thing is for certain though, communication is key. If you are married, a strong marraige is essential and having fun is key.
I truly believe that man was not made to be monogamous, but religious conditioning, parental influence and peer pressure all regulate the outcome of our lives. To overcome this, you truly have to be strong. To all those who espouse non-monogamy, Good luck! and may you have a happy life.

I once heard about such case: the husband wanted to approach non-monogamy way, because "I've got too much love to give, and the wife was reluctant.

As a result, they got divorced.

Anyway, I think the husband's excuse is pretty lame.
