Small Silk Dildo

I have a male friend who has been dying–DYING!–to find a nice little toy for me to use on his butt. As I strive to give him exactly what he wants in all situations, I offered up some of my toys for his consideration.

Alas, he rejected each one. “Too big,” he said after looking at one girthy silicone dildo. “Too ripply,” he said, running his finger up and down a ridged glass toy. “Too hard!” he said, dubiously eying my stainless steel toy.

We tried the gentle application of my finger to his bottom; this was deemed “nice” but still “too rough.”

I sighed and turned him loose in the dildos section at Babeland’s website. His eyes immediately came to rest on the Small Silk Dildo. Because it’s so tiny and so smooth, he thought it would be the perfect toy for his neophyte’s ass. I liked it because it’s made by Tantus, a company with an awesome reputation for cranking out high-quality silicone sex toys.

When the Small Silk arrived in the mail a few days later, I greedily tore it from its cello bag. The tiny pink toy shimmers with a pearly glow. Was it sprinkled with Lust Dust by the Horny Fairy?

The toy curves very gently upward. It rests on a wide base, which promises safe anal play, harness compatibility and a nice gripping surface. It’s firm enough to hold its shape but flexible enough not to cause undue poke-age in the bottom.

Perfect.

When the moment presented itself, I tried out the toy on my friend.

Oh, he liked it. He liked it very very much. The Small Silk is slightly larger around than a single finger and it is incredibly smooth. With the proper amount of lube, a loving warm-up (via oral sex), and some gentle pressure, the Small Silk slipped easily into my partner’s bottom without causing him the least bit of pain.

After he got used to the slight stretching provided by the toy, he started moving ever so gently. I tried to keep the curve of the Small Silk pointed toward my friend’s prostate (downward, in this case), but I was unsure about this. There’s no way to tell from the base of the toy which end is up. Or down. Or whichever.

But this is an issue that is easily rectified. Before my friend and I use the toy again, I’ll apply a small mark to the Silk’s base. See how easy? Problem solved.

The very smooth surface means easy clean up for the Small Silk. Wipe it off with tissues and then scrub it with hot soapy water. Silicone toys can be boiled to sterilize, but you should still cover your toy with a condom if you plan on sharing it.

In general, silicone lubes should NOT be used with silicone toys. However, because Tantus creates their toys from very pure silicone, they claim that most high-quality silicone lubes should be safe to use with their toys. The Tantus website recommends that you do a patch test on the bottom flange of their dildos if you’d like to use them with silicone lubes. I tried this with my Small Silk and the silicone lube I own; there was no reaction. Please do your own test, as all lubes are different and this toy is too nice to ruin by injudicious lube usage.

I’ve not yet found a toy made by Tantus that I haven’t loved. The Small Silk is the perfect thing for anyone wanting to experience very gentle butt play for the first time.
